This is more about the right resource with experience, connections with an ability to design end to end business solutions that encompass operations, marketing and sales.


This is a unique position at a high potential, solar services company implementing projects in the fast growing Solar PAYGO sector and will report directly to the CEO. The individual is expected to execute existing business plans to meet key project milestones and develop other business opportunities for the organisation.


The ideal candidate will be self-starting, hands-on, with expertise in building a qualified sales pipeline.


The candidate will also have solid experience in Business Development by having developed new markets across geographies and sectors, reviewed and negotiated contract terms, worked with technical support, and applied sound project management skills.


This role is focused on driving business in the highly competitive Solar PAYGO segment I Zimbabwe and requires an individual who appreciates the Zimbabwe rural and peri-urban operating environments. You must thrive in an environment of tight time limits and deadlines, and take ownership of delivering sales and customer acquisition. You must be truly “inspired” by working in an entrepreneurial environment, and be comfortable taking on responsibilities outside of your immediate prerogative.

Understands the basics of finance (P&L, Balance Sheet) and is comfortable modelling Process payments, receipts and invoices. Updating financial records in the computerized accounting system. Ensure that all transactions comply with organizational policies and procedures and regulations, and contractual obligations (terms and conditions of contracts); Ensure transactions have adequate supporting documents, approvals and arithmetic accuracy; filing documents in line with the organizational filing procedures. Any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience


A minimum of 3 years of sales or business development experience with demonstrated success in structuring and closing deals.

Knowledge of the off grid solar sector and appreciation of sustainability.

A recognised degree in Business, Engineering, or other related discipline is required.

Ability to think strategically and at the same time to act tactically.

Has the ability to be hands-on and share best practices is critical.

A demonstrated ability to design a sales strategy for complex sales in early stage companies is desired.

Has a demonstrated ability to close partnership agreements.

Experience in the Solar PAYGO sector or MFI environment is an added advantage.

Demonstrated strong communication skills and executive presence combined with high energy to drive sales and meet goals.

A demonstrated ability to communicate, negotiate and persuade at all business levels internally and externally.
