Sustainable Agriculture Technology (SAT) is a local NGO implementing wildlife conservation and agriculture-based livelihoods projects in various parts of the country. A vacancy for a Business and Institutional Development Advisor (BIDA) has arisen in SAT under the Reviving Exports of Oranges and Paprika and Exploring the Niche of Saffron (REOPENS) horticulture exports project to be implemented by the SAT Consortium from 3 rd February 2020, with support from the European Union (EU) in Zimbabwe. The SAT Consortium is headed by Cesvi. The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience at senior management level. He / She should have practical experience in leading teams, promoting exports from smallholder farmers and SMEs, capacity building and business strategy formulation and implementation. He / She should also demonstrate a clear understanding of Zimbabwe’s horticulture industry, including proven experience of working with smallholder irrigation schemes and various value chain actors in the horticulture industry. The BIDA will have the overall responsibility to coordinate and support interventions geared at building the capacity of targeted Irrigation Management Committees (IMCs) and the 4 Business Support Organisations (BSOs) under this project – i.e. ZIMTRADE, Commercial Farmers Union (CFU), Horticulture Development Council (HDC) and the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) – so that the IMCs can improve their management and governance capacity and the BSOs can improve their service delivery to smallholder farmers and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) keen to explore various export markets.
