About OPHID
The Organization for Public Health Interventions and Development (OPHID) PVO 31/16 develops and implements innovative approaches and strategies to strengthen HIV Care and Treatment services in Zimbabwe, by providing enhanced access for communities to comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment. OPHID, works with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) in implementing these interventions. OPHID is looking for suitably qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following post:
Position summary
Assist the Finance Officer to provide financial information to management by examining and analysing accounting data; preparing accurate reports in compliance with OPHID Policies and Procedures, donor rules and regulations and other applicable rules and regulations in a timely manner. In addition, he/she assists with the management and safeguarding of the organisation’s financial resources and meeting statutory obligations.
Key responsibilities
Review partners’ financial reports and prepare expenditure journals in compliance with the Accounting SOP and other applicable guidelines; Reconcile OPHID’s current accounts with partners’ retained earnings on a monthly basis and follow up on any variances to ensure accuracy and completeness; Review and analyze partners’ monthly fund balance reconciliations and escalate any issues to the Finance Officer; Review VAT schedules and supporting documents for compliance, accuracy, and completeness on a monthly basis; Perform monthly reconciliations for terminal benefits accounts for review by the Accountant; Perform monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliations including staff advance, cash books, inter-fund accounts and other assets and liabilities accounts as assigned by the Finance Officer; Keep track of entries in allocated B/Sheet Accounts to ensure they are cleared on a monthly basis; Process financial transactions as required in compliance with OPHID policies and procedures; Coordinate sub-recipients’ submission of timely, accurate, well-documented reports to OPHID; Ensure compliance of partners’ expenditure in line with USG regulations through reviewing and analysing expenditure reports and supporting documents; Monitor partner expenditures and advise on over/under expenditure; Prepare tax returns ensuring that statutory returns are correctly completed and filed and that statutory obligations are paid on time; Participate in special projects and assignments as required
Person specification
A Degree in Accountancy; professional qualification such as ACCA, CIS, CIMA; at least 3 years’ post qualification experience in a similar position; a relevant Masters’ Degree will be an added advantage; organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines; high level of numeracy and ability to pay attention to detail; good communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in ICT, Excel and Pastel.
