Position Overview
The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Zimbabwe, is seeking an Analyst as a critical contributor to CHAI Zimbabwe’s Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) initiative, the ultimate goal of which is to support the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) to achieve the ambitious goals set for maternal and neonatal mortality reduction, as outlined in its Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent, and Nutrition (RMNCA&N) strategy. These efforts will require extensive engagement with the MOHCC, other partner organizations, as well as various teams within CHAI. The position will be based in Harare and will require local and international travel.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and strong communication skills. The Analyst must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence. Conduct program and relevant MOHCC data processes including setting up data tools, data collection, managing data sets, as well as analyses and syntheses of data for continued analyses of programmatic interventions
Develop programmatic tools for monitoring and evaluation, data collection and job-aides
Manage quality of program data including data quality training for staff, routine data quality assessment and other monitoring and evaluation activities
Develop persuasive strategies, manuals, proposals and other written quality work as required for presentation at various fora
Collaborate closely with officials from the MOHCC, partner organizations and CHAI teams in the design and implementation of project activities, including planning, budgeting, program management enable smooth implementation of program
Cultivate strong working relationships with key stakeholders in government, sub-national players, international partners, donors and NGOs, and ensure maximum coordination of resources and effort
Develop content, facilitate and supervise trainings for health-care workers as per program objectives and strategy
Lead sub-national implementation of CHAI’s MNCH initiatives country-wide
Identify areas of collaboration within and outside of CHAI in order to effectively carry out implementation activities
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the MNCH program environment including goals and partner landscape
Collaborate with other CHAI teams and provide strategic and analytical support on cross-cutting projects and activities
Provide regular reports on progress to Manager of Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager of Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, business, public health, development, sciences or a related discipline
2+ years’ of professional working experience, preferably in the public health or private sectors
Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and communication (written and verbal) skills
Entrepreneurial mindset, including ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of statistical packages, e.g. STATA, SPSS
Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity and problem solve in a fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment
Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to set priorities
Willingness and ability to travel if required and at short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing change in developing countries, and partnering with donors, branches of government, NGOs or demonstrated experience in related areas
Experience working in management consulting, investment banking, client-facing or similar fast-paced, output-oriented environments

CHAI has partnered with the Government in Lao PDR since 2014, supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH) across several health programs including Procurement and Supply Management, Malaria Elimination, HIV and TB Access, and Maternal and Child Health. CHAI Laos has also supported the MoH’s COVID-19 response since the beginning of the pandemic.
CHAI is seeking a highly entrepreneurial individual with outstanding problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to work as an Associate with the CHAI Lao PDR HIV & TB Access Program. A dynamic, energetic, self-motivated individual with exceptional people skills and experience working in challenging environments would make for a strong candidate for this role. Demonstrated application of analytical skills and problem solving in complex environments is essential.
The Associate will be based in Vientiane, Lao PDR, but may be required to travel within the country up to 10% of the time.
Work together with the CHAI Laos Country Management Team to further refine CHAI’s overall strategy within the program area that are aligned with the Ministry of Health goals
Develop clear operational plans for execution and continually identify opportunities for CHAI to add value and maximize impact
Support development and maintenance of high-quality data management systems; compile, synthesize and analyze data to inform the development of assessments, training materials, reports and other materials to ensure effective program execution
Help cultivate a culture of data-use by strengthening usage and analysis of data by the government and the quality of data inputs
Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders in government, international partners, donors and NGOs, and ensure maximum coordination of resources and effort
Work together with the MOH teams at the National HIV and TB programs and CHAI global teams on executing project strategy, including supporting
Development of roll-out plans for optimal products, development of training materials, work plans, budgets, and other program materials to support the uptake of optimal products
Quantification of commodity needs and creation of procurement plans
Scale-up of the MOH Integrated Supply Chain strategy, including the development of an integrated distribution plan for TB and HIV products
Strengthening or development of monitoring tools and management dashboards to ensure data is utilized for strategic decision making and planning
Ensuring planning and resources are targeted towards addressing programmatic gaps
Supporting the programs with ongoing planning from donor transition
Skills transfer and government ownership
Undertake any other duties as requested by the Senior Program Manager or Country Director
Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least 2-3 years of professional experience in the private or public sector
Affinity for analytics and information management, with strong analytical, problem solving, and quantitative skills
Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build professional and collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders and drive results
Entrepreneurial mindset, including ability to work independently with little guidance, and propose and implement new approaches/initiatives
Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity, and problem solve in a fast-paced, limited-structure, multicultural environment
Ability to learn on the job quickly and absorb and synthesize a broad range of information
Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to prepare and present compelling presentations and program planning and memo documents
