Background and introduction
Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association is calling for applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the positions of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) interns that have arisen within the organization.
Main duties and responsibilities
Assist Project Officers project specific M&E plans and implementation of the organizational MEAL System, working closely with programme staff as guided by the MEAL manager; Consolidate workplan and progress updates on all projects monthly and update institutional work calendars and consolidated weekly reports monthly; Support internal and external project reviews, evaluations, accountability, and learning processes; Carry out MEAL related field level as when required for projects or for other ZELA work; Participate in programme/project design ensuring that objectives and indicators are SMART using Results Based Management (RMB); Maintain up to date institutional collection tools for all departments of ZELA with guidance from the MEAL manager; Maintain updated beneficiary lists, staff responsibility / accountability lists, and data / information gathered from field processes and MEAL related meetings; Compile and capture clean data into a proper data management system, do quality checks and analyse data using appropriate software packages such as NVivo, Excel, Stata, SPSS etc; Develop appropriate documentation and reporting formats, reports and templates that suit specific needs of internal and external stakeholders with guidance from the MEAL manager; Regularly review and produce knowledge products such as fact sheets, stories of change, pamphlets, testimonials, documentaries etc in liaison with the Communication and Media Officers and promote use of such data by project officers and other key stakeholders; Track progress on the Institutional workplan actions as well as related M&E information harvesting processes for Strategic review meetings and our work on natural resources governance; Perform any other duties as assigned by the MEAL manager.
Key attributes or competencies required
Computer literacy; Excellent command of the English Language; Ability to use Microsoft Office software packages; Good problem-solving abilities; Effective communicator; Team player; Pays attention to detail; Ability to work in a dynamic multi-cultural setting.
Applicant requirements / Relevant qualifications
Suitable applicants should have the following: A university degree in social sciences, development studies, business, statistics, economics, or related field; Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a busy environment or at least have 3 years of experience in implementing results-based M&E activities and systems.
