Background

Zim-TTECH is seeking highly qualified and experienced applicants to fill the position of DREAMS District Community / Schools Youth Focal Person for deployment in Tsholotsho district, Matabeleland North province. Zim-TTECH is funded by PEPFAR through the Center for Disease Control to implement HIV & TB treatment and care services. Its activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care and treatment of infectious diseases in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) under the Zim-PAAC (Zimbabwe Partnership to Accelerate AIDS Control) program. It is currently implementing the DREAMS program in four Matabeleland North districts. The DREAMS program aims to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among OVC, OVC caregivers and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe. The contract is for twelve (12) months effective 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022 and may be renewed subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance of the candidate.


Position summary

The successful candidate will oversee the work of District Facilitators and DREAMS Ambassadors and report to the District Team Lead (DTL). He/She will work closely with key government line ministries and will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the DREAMS community-based program at district level and will create synergies and linkages between primary and secondary service packages.


Duties and responsibilities

Contributing to development of criteria for selecting communities and schools to be prioritized in a district; Co-ordinating with the DTL in developing and executing a district-specific implementation plan by scheduling and implementing DREAMS Community Program activities and monitoring the same to ensure targets are achieved on time and with fidelity; Identifying, mobilizing and recruiting AGYWs into clubs; Assisting in delivering Out of School Club Health for Life package according to program guidelines; Supporting program monitoring by tracking weekly targets and mobilizing program data; Conducting timely data collection and data verification; Collaborating with NAC, MoHCC and Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and other strategic government departments to plan, schedule and document regular mentoring, support and supervisions visits; Linking AGYWs to needs-based services; Ensuring curricula fidelity by training, mentoring, supervising and supporting District Facilitators, Ambassadors, guiding and counselling teacher mentors on the DREAMS curricula including IMpower; Preparing, coordinating reviews and editing project-related reports and documents.


Qualifications, skills and experience

Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or any related qualification; Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role and previous experience in a PEPFAR supported program shall be an added advantage; Certified WHO L.I.V.E.S training is essential; Computer proficiency and familiarity with a range of Microsoft packages including Word processing, Spreadsheets and databases; Good interpersonal communication skills with fluency in English, IsiNdebele and Shona languages; Good working knowledge of HIV prevention for priority populations including adolescents and youth, gender and/or gender based violence programing; Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities; Experience in Youth Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Programing and in working with local partners and district government line ministries
