Adolescent Girls and Young Women Mentor

 

Job Description

Roll out the DREAMS mentorship curriculum trainings across the 11 RISE districts ;Meet with AGYW on a regular basis to discuss their career goals, development plans, and any challenges they are facing ;Facilitate opportunities for training, events, district, national, regional and international workshops and seminars, and to help expand AGYW knowledge, skills, abilities and opportunities ;Provide guidance and advice on career paths and growth opportunities for AGYW to reach their full potential and develop their skills ;Create a supportive and nurturing environment for AGYW to learn and grow in their various sectors ;The AGYW Mentor will support his/her mentees by empowering them to resolve their HIV risk, develop coping strategies for their future, establish appropriate boundaries, their strengths, talents, and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them ;Working closely with DREAMS-RISE District program coordinators, the Mentor is responsible for working with groups of vulnerable AGYW in safe spaces in the community and establish a trusting relationship with the AGYW and provide education and referrals to essential services to ensure that the AGYW are empowered to remain healthy and HIV-free ;To develop a relationship with AGYW in the aim of providing support, guidance, friendship, positive interaction, exposure to positive activities, opportunities to learn life skills and positive problem-solving skills, to ease some of the effects resulting from HIV burden ;To provide a creative, consistent, constructive, customized, and skillfully coordinated package of support to AGYW in the DREAMS-RISE program ;To support young people to develop positive and supportive networks ;Working with parents and other relevant stakeholders to maximize their capacity to safeguard the AGYW and enhance the parent-child relationship while referring to other agencies as required ;To develop excellent relationships with local partners, public and private partners in ensuring that AGYW and their families have access to services that best meet their needs ;To work extensively with education and training providers to secure access or sustain places for young people in potential businesses or recognized training institutions ;To deliver evidence-based programs of support aiming to improve, for example, the communication skills, social competence, and critical thinking skills of young people. (Training provided) ;Perform various activities in support of the DREAMS-RISE program design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting including but not limited to documentation of success stories ;Prepare presentations and coordinate program communication needs through writing and editing communication resources, such as case studies, brochures, briefs, reports, for both internal and external audiences.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Strong knowledge of mentoring techniques, principles, and practices ;Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills ;Able to motivate and inspire others ;Able to build trust and establish meaningful relationships ;Proven track record of success in developing and mentoring young people ;Great training and facilitation skills

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Psychology, Education, or Human Resources ;At least 2 years of experience in a mentoring role.

Positive Parenting Trainer At Zimbabwe Health Interventions

Job Description

Design, plan, coordinate, and conduct training of trainers (TOT) trainings for staff and competent Sinovuyo facilitators, assess and certify trainers using the evidence based Sinovuyo Curriculum; Support the development of training materials and Sinovuyo Facilitators and staff training on Positive Parenting interventions; Ensure the program team and partner staff use the appropriate systems and tools; Facilitate identification, assessment, and strengthening of partnerships relevant to DREAMS-RISE program, applying appropriate partnership concepts, tools, and approaches; Ensure that both program and partner staff have the requisite knowledge and skills to successfully deliver positive parenting curricula/intervention; Monitor positive parenting intervention program indicator performance across the nine implementation districts and provide mentorship and support to district teams and sub-awardees to assure successful delivery of the intervention; Provide mentorship and support to available Sinovuyo facilitators, coaches, and trainers ;Perform various activities in support of positive parenting program design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting including but not limited documentation of success stories. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based and promising behavioral and structural HIV prevention interventions, best practices in community health interventions, and linkage to services and approaches to addressing gender issues relating to HIV prevention; Hands on experience managing a large complex Project at national level; Demonstrated experience in training and facilitation including ability to design training programs; Experience in collaboration with other stakeholders as well as Partnership management

Qualifications And Experience

Diploma in social sciences, education, business studies or any other related discipline; Must be a certified Clowns Without Boarders South Africa (CWBSA) Sinovuyo Master trainer; At least 3-5 progressive years of experience as a Positive Parenting trainer/focal person with a reputable NGO.

Technical Officer – School And Community Linkages At Zimbabwe Health Interventions

 

Job Description

Provide overall technical guidance towards implementation of the COSEPA initiatives across all the implementation districts; Support the school community to develop realistic milestones, provide technical assistance for timely milestone implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Identifying strategic partners, forging collaboration, and synergy to improve program efficiency and outcomes, including working with both formal and non-formal education systems/structures within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MOPSE) and create linkages between school and community, development partners, and with other key line ministries and departments; Design effective strategies to establish and nurture long term school – community linkages and relationships for better health and education outcomes; Support schools to develop child-sensitive School Development Plans (SDP); Facilitate the local leadership to mobilize communities to identify and locate locally available resources towards achievement of school developmental needs; Through the person-centered approach, support parents/caregivers and families to take an active role to address barriers to learning, enhance healthy development, and strengthen families to assure better learner outcomes; Participate in education-related activities and meetings, including participation in strategic platforms; Work with program staff to design integrated education activities that will keep vulnerable girls and boys in school, improve educational outcomes and build agency; In consultation with the SIE team, ensure that the school, community, and families monitor the effectiveness of the COSEPA initiative under community led monitoring (CLM) approach.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to translate program vision into action; Proactive, creative, and thought leadership capable of translating technical guidance and rallying program staff, school, and community leadership to action; Strong skills in participatory methodologies for community development. Excellent organizational and coordination skills, and strong track record in meeting deliverables and deadlines; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict timelines; Strong facilitation and training skills; Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to quickly adapt to new program changes; Ability to develop detailed workplans to guide activity implementation; Strong supervision and mentorship skills. Proficiency in MS Office applications (i.e., MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.).

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in social science or education with 3-5 years’ experience in social/development work, preferably working with children and young people; Experience in implementing and managing donor funded education programs is an added advantage. Experience in community mobilization and engagement; Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken) as well as local language(s).
