Getting a job abroad when you are an African is a dream come true to many. Africa as a continent is characterized with a lot of unemployment rate which is about 90%. The causes of the high unemployment rate in Africa are as follows: (i) dirty politics. (ii) corruption within the leaders. (iii) poverty.

Many educated Africans are just good as those uneducated because their education do not mean anything in their lives. This is so because after graduation situation will turn them into the informal sector and their certificates will just gather dust in cabins.

However some still have hope to make it in life, they do not quit so they go on and apply for jobs that are in faraway lands. They look for jobs abroad and those in Abroad they are now taking advantage of the situation in Africa and exploit  Africans. It is either they under pay them or they just exploit them mentally, physical and sexually. Some are calling it 21st century slave trade.

However this article is going to address to Africans on what to do when you get a job abroad. This will try and reduce or avoid the 21st century slave trade being practiced.

What To Do When You Get A Job Abroad

  1. Search for the company that has offered you the job on internet. Check the company details such as location, history, and followers on their site. You check again on the products they offer, check on how they deal with the human resources.
  2. Go straight to the embassy and ask about the company reputation and confirm if the company is real.
  3. If the company or the so called agents asks you to pay money it will be a scam do not give them money they will be real thieves.
  4. Wait for them to call you not you to call them.
  5. They will conduct interviews with you on video calls at their embassy
  6. Wait for them to process your paper work at their embassy you will be under the guidance of the guys at the embassy.
  7. Understand the Company’s Culture, Especially Work-Life Balance
