The Youth Empowerment & Transformation Trust (YETT) is at the forefront of youth empowerment and sustainable development in Zimbabwe. Committed to the full participation of young people in the nation’s progress, YETT is now offering an exciting opportunity for university students going for attachments in 2024. Through a series of workshops and internships in collaboration with USAID/Zimbabwe, YETT aims to equip underprivileged youth with the skills they need to enter the workforce and launch their careers.

A Unique Opportunity for Zimbabwean Youth
YETT’s Internship Program is a unique opportunity for young Zimbabweans, especially those from underprivileged and diverse communities. These communities encompass key and vulnerable populations, youths living with disabilities (visible or invisible), youths living with HIV, and youths from rural areas. The program’s main goal is to provide practical experience and essential professional skills to pave the way for these individuals to enter the job market with confidence.
Capacity-Building Workshops
YETT is set to facilitate two workshops, one in the Northern Region and the other in the Southern Region of Zimbabwe. The Northern Region will cover universities in Harare, Mutare, Chinhoyi, and Bindura, while the Southern Region will include universities in Gweru, Masvingo, Bulawayo, Gwanda, Lupane, and Tsholotsho. The workshops will cover an array of vital topics, including:

- Creating a resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
- Interview preparation and tips for a successful interview
- Strategies for Submitting Successful Job Applications
- Professional work etiquette
- Presentation and communication skills
- Professional use of social media
- Job search strategies
These workshops are scheduled for October 2023, with each accommodating a maximum of 50 students. The selection criteria for these workshops will include various factors, such as academic enrollment, relevant fields of study, grade average, and representation of priority populations.
Internship Opportunities
In addition to the workshops, YETT is offering eight internship positions within USAID Zimbabwe. These internships will span over 8 months and will come with a stipend. The benefits of this program are substantial, including the opportunity for interns to gain industry-standard experience, develop new skills, build professional networks, and establish a solid foundation for their resumes.
The selection criteria for these internships will be based on the performance of participants in tasks assigned during the workshops and their ability to secure local USAID security clearance.

- 3rd-year enrolment in a tertiary institution within Zimbabwe
- Enrolment in areas of study relevant to USAID Zimbabwe. These include Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration, Business Studies, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Contracting, Economics, Marketing, Quantitative Methods, Customs, Shipping, Logistics, Law, International Relations, Security Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Administration, International Relations, Accounting, Finance, Purchasing, Public Policy, Environment, Natural Resource Management, International Development, Communication, English, Media and Digital Studies, Public Health, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Analytics and Informatics, Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Health Interventions.
- Most recent results transcript demonstrating the achievement of a 2.1 grade average.
- A letter from the University/tertiary institution confirming the need for an attachment 2
- Represents a priority population e.g., key, and vulnerable populations, youth living with disabilities (visible or invisible), youth living with HIV, youth from rural areas, and young women.
- Demonstration of basic computer literacy skills.
- Should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment and have good communication skills.
