I am seeking a Policy Fellow to work closely with me at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) on a new project focused on supporting the Government of Brazil in implementing an ambitious agenda of economic transformation.

If you have a keen understanding of Brazil’s policy landscape and economic context – in particular pertaining to industrial strategy, innovation policy and public sector capacity – are proficient in Portuguese and English, and are experienced in advancing impactful, policy-oriented research, this role (based in Brazil or the UK) may be for you.  (Job description below).

IIPP is at the forefront of global debates on the role of the state in shaping sustainable and inclusive economies and on the public sector capabilities this requires. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to robust research, analysis and writing on a high-impact policy project. This project will focus on the strategic coordination of the Government of Brazil’s economic agenda, which has the potential to bring economic goals into alignment with social and environmental goals, and on the design of key policy tools, institutions and capabilities required to implement it – including procurement policy, state-owned enterprises and digital governance.

Also Available: Programme Officer Needed at DCA: Focus on Grants and Reporting

This project builds on my previous work with ECLAC on the opportunity for mission-oriented industrial strategy in the region –> https://lnkd.in/e9_8zSfN. It is being advanced in partnership with Brazil’s Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) with support from Open Society Foundations.

To apply, please send a CV, cover letter and writing sample to Manuel Maldonado Acosta at m.maldonado@ucl.ac.uk by 7:00am GMT on November 6th. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
