The UNDP Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme

Background: UNDP JPO Programme Analyst, Nature, Climate and Energy

As a Programme Analyst, you will be part of the UNDP Algeria Country Office team, collaborating with the Resident Representative and Senior Management Team.

Your primary focus will be on supporting program development and implementation related to the Nature, Climate, and Energy (NCE) thematic priority.

This includes fostering partnerships, drafting high-quality reports, and adhering to results-based management guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Technical support to the promotion of SDGs and NCE coordination:
    • Provide technical expertise in NCE themes such as nature, climate, and energy.
    • Support the development of strategic partnerships with development partners.
    • Stay updated on global SDG developments and provide relevant knowledge services.
    • Contribute to the implementation of UN Reform and joint programming priority areas.
  2. Support effective strategic partnerships, advocacy, and quality assurance:
    • Monitor partnership trends and update oversight systems.
    • Support NCE team’s advocacy, networking, and partnership efforts.
    • Assist in preparing meetings and consultations with donors.
    • Review and analyze donor and evaluation reports to identify achievements and issues.
  3. Contribute to knowledge management and capacity development:
    • Develop knowledge products and mechanisms to position UNDP effectively.
    • Share knowledge and enhance organizational learning.
    • Conduct research and analysis in thematic areas.
    • Document best practices and lessons learned for wider sharing.
    • Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in international affairs, economics, or related field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of development contexts, particularly in the Arab States and North Africa Region, is beneficial.
  • Strong partnership and communications experience, preferably in a multilateral context.
  • Familiarity with the SDGs and UNDP’s mandate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English and French is required; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and information technology.
