The University of Fort Hare Law Requirements
Do you wish to study law at the University of Fort Hare? This article will try and list down the requirements that students need to meet in order to qualify for any of the law degrees offered by the University of Fort Hare.
The University’s Faculty of law/Law school is known as the Nelson R. Mandela School of Law which is named after one of their notable alumni, Nelson Mandela.
The qualifications for undergraduates offered by UFH are the Bachelors of Law (LLB) and the Bachelors of Commerce in Law.
The LLB is now the only qualification acceptable for admission into the legal profession either as an attorney or advocate. The Bachelors of Commerce in Law sets students up for a career in Legal Advisory and other careers in the commercial sphere.
The minimum requirements to study law at the University of Fort Hare are:
- National Senior Certificate with a percentage of 50% or more in 4 subjects
- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
Applicants who do not satisfy the minimum legal requirements may be admitted under the University’s Senate Discretionary Exemption (SDE) dispensation. Students will then have to satisfy additional curriculum requirements.
