About the job
We have an great opportunity for a Teacher Training Specialist to lead and drive the delivery of the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) component of TEACH by aligning pre-service and in-service teacher training, delivering teacher training on effective pedagogy and lead a team of 20+ professional development officers. You will be providing in-country technical advice and guidance on developing and implementing contextualized approaches and practices directed at teacher development in foundational Literacy and Numeracy.

- Together with the Schools Leadership Specialist, lead the TPD roll out for 86,000 teachers across Zimbabwe in Catch Up Literacy and Numeracy. This involves providing technical training, coaching, mentoring, as well as high levels of project management and logistics
- Support the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education capacity development system to enable teacher continuous professional development with clear trackable benefits to teachers at school level. This will require clear coaching and mentoring roadmap that strengthens and/or introduces innovation to the Ministry capacity development system
- Collaborate with TPD materials content specialists and field-based teams to adapt training sessions in response beneficiary/stakeholder feedback and implementation experience, as part of adaptive management
- Contribute to TEACH monitoring and learning, system strengthening national/policy agenda using implementation experience, and any innovations, collaborating with other TEACH task leads.
- Ensure that there is a safe and respectful environment in which children can learn and remain vigilant and follow Education Development Trust’s child protection reporting procedures with any concern over child protection.
Person Specification
- Strong background in teacher education with experience in designing and developing both pre- and in-service teacher professional education courses
- Experience of supporting professional learning through mentoring, coaching, supporting workplace-based learning
- Experience in coordinating and delivering teacher education projects on behalf on NGOs and/or multinational donor agencies
- You will be required to travel nationally if needed. The role is likely to involve working outside of standard work hours, especially in the lead up to deadlines.
