
Rhodes Trust Scholarships for Southern Africa 2022–2023
Here is an update on the Rhodes Scholarship which is closing on the 1st of August 2022.
The purpose of the scholarship is to bring people from around the world together and to provide an exciting opportunity for young people to pursue their studies at the University of Oxford.
The scholarship provides the following benefits:
- Cost of tuition.
- A stipend of £1,442.50 per month.
- Living expenses.
- Cost of student visa.
- Health services charge.
- Two economy flights at the beginning and end of the course.
- The recipient of the scholarship will also receive an allowance for settlement on arrival in Oxford.
- The recipients who will be transitioning to another course will receive an allowance for covering the fees of visa renewal and for IHS application.

Eligibility Criteria For The Scholarship
The Rhodes scholarship does not have a specific eligibility criterion.
- The candidate must be between 18 to 24 years old. It may vary with constituencies.
- A fixed number of scholarships are available in each constituency:
- The candidate must be academically excellent.
- The candidate must have or be about to complete an undergraduate degree.
- Candidates cannot apply more than once a year for the scholarship.
- The candidate cannot accept another scholarship without informing or consulting the Registrar of the Rhodes Trust in Oxford.
Documents Required
All the documents which will be asked with the application must be submitted. They will include certified copies of documents like:
- A certified copy of your birth certificate.
- A certified copy of your ID document or passport.
- Proof of citizenship, legal permanent residency, or refugee status (if not born in one of the above countries)
- Official full academic transcript from the institution you are studying or have studied at (copy)
- A certified copy of your degree certificate
- A certified copy of your matric/ school leaving certificate
- Full Curriculum Vitae (CV) (including details about academic qualifications, prizes, scholarships, positions of leadership, employment positions, involvement in student, voluntary, community, or political activities, and any cultural, musical, or sporting accomplishments (maximum 2 A4 pages, 12pt font size)
- Photograph (head-and-shoulders colour, in jpg format)

- Academic statement of study (maximum 350 words) (see the “Rhodes Trust Scholarship Information for Candidates” document above, pages 5 and 6, for further information).

The Closing Date of the Scholarship
The application deadline is August 1, 2022. Candidates must apply before the deadline.
