Overview

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) seeks a Regional Coordination Specialist on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention to lead the implementation of the Southeast Asia Gender-Based Violence Prevention Platform. This role supports the prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG) through strategic coordination, advocacy, and partnership-building within the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, the Specialist will collaborate with key stakeholders, including UN agencies, ASEAN, civil society, and donors, to promote evidence-based interventions and knowledge-sharing.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead Implementation of the Joint Programme
-Develop, implement, and monitor the programme work plan aligned with UN Women’s strategic objectives and donor guidelines.
-Coordinate governance structures, such as Steering Committees, ensuring alignment with UN Joint Programming Guidelines.
-Present progress reports and maintain systems for results-based monitoring.
2. Foster Collaboration with Partners
-Facilitate partnerships with UN agencies, ASEAN, regional stakeholders, and national counterparts.
-Organize joint programme meetings and ensure follow-up on action points.
-Develop communications strategies and advocate for programme initiatives.
3. Monitor and Report Programme Progress
-Analyze and compile data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
-Prepare financial and narrative reports, ensuring transparency and accountability.
-Document lessons learned and effective approaches for wider dissemination.
4. Manage Resources and Supervise Staff
-Oversee administrative personnel, consultants, and volunteers, providing mentorship and performance reviews.
-Monitor financial resources and ensure strong fiscal delivery.
-Support expenditure tracking and reporting.
5. Build Strategic Partnerships
-Develop strategies and proposals to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, including civil society, donors, and private sector entities.
-Identify collaborative opportunities aligned with programme goals.
6. Advocacy and Knowledge Sharing
-Develop advocacy materials, social media content, and knowledge products.
-Organize high-profile campaigns, workshops, and events to amplify key messages on VAWG prevention.
-Contribute to internal and external knowledge exchange initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:
-Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Law, Public Health, Gender Studies, or related field.
-A bachelor’s degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted.

Experience:
-Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in GBV prevention and gender equality initiatives.
-Proven experience in programme design, implementation, monitoring, and advocacy.
-Strong coordination and partnership-building skills, including with UN agencies.
-Familiarity with VAW prevention strategies and interventions is preferred.
-Experience working in the Asia-Pacific region and/or with ASEAN is an asset.

Skills:
-Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and lead diverse teams.
-Proficiency in digital tools and social media for advocacy purposes.

Languages:
-Fluency in English is required.
-Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage (e.g., French, Spanish, or Arabic).
