Pharmacist Position at Population Services Zimbabwe
Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ) is seeking a qualified and dedicated pharmacist to join their pharmaceutical setup. This position plays a crucial role in the healthcare system, ensuring the appropriate management of prescriptions, procuring medical supplies, and maintaining the quality and legality of pharmaceuticals.
The Role
The pharmacist position at Population Services Zimbabwe involves various aspects of pharmaceutical management. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing and managing prescriptions to ensure their appropriateness and legality. Additionally, they will oversee the procurement of medical supplies, stock management, quality assurance control, dispensing, and record-keeping for pharmacist-initiated Medicines and Home Remedies. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate for this role will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Organizing the pharmacy layout to enhance the identification of products and improve efficiency.
- Prepackaging medicines in compliance with MCAZ requirements and proper labeling
- Storing and stacking medicines based on the First-Expired-First-Out (FEFO) principle.
- Providing assistance with additional medical services like blood pressure and temperature measurements.
- Reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, ingredient suitability, and needed adjustments.
- Applying innovative approaches to support Social and Behavior Change (SBC) interventions.
- Ensuring strict adherence to legal regulations and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice.
- Preparing medications with correct dosages and materials tailored to individual patients.
- Providing information and advice on drug interactions, side effects, dosages, and proper medication storage.
- Developing standard operating procedures and job aids to enhance pharmacy systems.
- Maintaining client and patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical statutory requirements and PSZ Infection Prevention Control.
- Building and maintaining a referral network and collaborating with various stakeholders for demand creation.
Requirements
- To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or an equivalent qualification.
- Hold valid registration as a practicing Pharmacist with the Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe.
- An additional qualification in Sales/Marketing Management or Supply Chain Management is advantageous.
- Possess a valid driver’s license (Class 4 is an added advantage).
- Hold a pre-registration pharmacist supervisor license.
- A Master’s degree in Business Management is an added advantage.
- Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Shona, and Ndebele.
- Clean Class 4 driver’s license is a valuable asset.
