Implementation of a scholarship system that allows students to focus on academics.

  • Scholarship system that allows students to maintain a certain level of academic ability.
  • Scholarship system that maintains the principles of competition, but avoids excessive competition.
  • Scholarship system that assists low-income students in the payment of tuition fees.

Undergraduate Tuition Fee Assistance and Related Scholarship Standards

  • Provide a scholarship corresponding to school support fees if the student has completed at least 12 credits in the previous semester and maintained a cumulative GPA of B- (3.0/4.3).
  • Provide a scholarship corresponding to school support fees for 1 year (2 semesters) after admission regardless of academic record.
  • Students who have applied for the National Scholarship Fund (type 1), implemented by the Korea Student Aid Foundation, and receive no more than 3 allotments of income are provided with a scholarship corresponding to registration fees (tuition fees + school support fees) regardless of the academic performance in the previous semester.

Basic Policies of Scholarship Operation

  • In accordance to the government policy forbidding duplicate payment of scholarships, duplicate payment is prohibited (the more favorable scholarship is provided to students).
  • If a student does not apply for or withdraws from a scholarship recommended by the university by their own will, the student will be denied payment of internal university scholarships based on separate standards.
  • All scholarships provided by the university on a monthly basis are support for living expenses (cannot exceed 500,000 KRW per month).
  • In the case of development fund scholarships: if a particular student receives the scholarship for more than 2 consecutive semesters, the scholarship is classified as a registration scholarship; if a particular student receives the scholarship for a single semester, the scholarship is classified as a academic promotion scholarship.
  • Undergraduate scholarships are provided until graduation, within the enrollment duration limit (total 8 semesters).
  • Returning students within the enrollment duration limit are granted scholarships based on the most recent semester’s academic record.
  • Students returning from studying abroad without taking a leave of absence from the university are granted scholarships based on the grades of the last semester’s academic record before leaving the university (The academic scholarship of students studying abroad without taking a leave of absence from the university may receive a scholarship only once based on the grades of the last semester’s academic record before leaving the university).
  • Students meeting one or more of the following conditions are excluded from scholarship candidacy:
    • Students taking a leave of absence.
    • Students placed under academic probation the previous semester.
    • Students under disciplinary action.
    • Students who have acquired less than 15 credits or have a GPA of less than 2.0/4.3 in the previous semester.
However, National Scholarships (Natural Sciences & Engineering), Development Fund Scholarships, and External Scholarships follow the standards of the respective organization.
    • Students who have surpassed a total of 8 semesters or the enrollment duration limit of 4 years.
When calculating the total number of semesters and enrollment period, exclude leave of absences but include study abroad without taking leave of absence.
  • If the scholarship beneficiary takes a leave of absence, drops out of the university, or is expelled the scholarship received in the particular semester must be returned.
  • Undergraduate students who wish to receive a scholarship/educational expense aid must register for the National Scholarship Fund (type 1) implemented by the Korea Student Aid Foundation every semester regardless of application eligibility (failure to register will result in the exclusion from that semesters scholarship & educational expense aid candidacy).
