Muvhango’s Phindile Gwala spent her Friday night in police cells after being busted for assault.

She beat up a bystander outside Cubana, a Pietermaritzburg nightclub.

The incident was reported by the victim known as Nompilo Mkhize.

She took to social media on Saturday morning to narrate the whole ordeal.

She claims that while waiting for a friend outside the club and started shooting a video of herself.

This was the same time Phindile and her friends where coming out of the club.

Seeing Nompilo shooting a video, Phindile assumed she was taking a video of her and her friends without her consent.

She then shouted at Nompilo to stop taking videos while some of her friends grabbed her.

Phindile who plays Nonnie on Muvhango and Nkululeko’s girlfriend on Inbewu The Seed is said to have forcefully grabbed Nompilo’s phone and deleted the videos inside afterwhich she smashed the phone to the ground.

The traumatised Nompilo had to rush to the police after the ordeal that left her face scratched.

She opened an assault and malicious damage to property case against Phindile.

But got arrested too while reporting the case.

Both ladies had contravened the Disaster Management Act since they had broken the country’s Covid-19 curfew rules.

“I was charged with contravention of the Disaster Management Act. According to the police, I wasn’t supposed to open a case that time of the night and should have waited until 4am,” said Nompilo on social media.

The police arrested both parties leading to Phindile Gwala’s night in cells.

According to a police statement, the two women aged 22 and 24 were arrested for failing to confine themselves to their place of residence. They were then fined R1500 each for this while Phindile’s assault case was still under investigations.
