The University of Zimbabwe is inviting applications for the following vacant posts:
RESEARCH AND INNOVATION DIRECTORATE – COVID-19 TASK FORCE PPEs FACTORY

1.1 EMBROIDERY MACHINE OPERATOR (1 POST)
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
• Applicants must be mature and have a Certificate in Textiles-related courses.
• A Diploma and or Degree in the relevant area of specialization is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in the Textile or Clothing industry is necessary.

DUTIES

• Operate embroidery equipment and software to create product designs.
• Convert designs from electronic formats to embroidery format.
• Sew logs, initials, and other patterns into fabric.
• Perform regular machine maintenance tasks.
• Keeping track of work orders and updating records.
• Ensure that all orders are completed in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all projects are completed to the client’s specifications.

1.2 DESIGNER AND PATTERN MAKER (1 POST)
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
• Applicants must be mature and have a Certificate in Textiles related courses.
• A Diploma and or Degree in the relevant area of specialisation is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in Textile or Clothing industry is necessary.

DUTIES
• Managing design process from conception through to final styling.
• Creating production sketches for development packages.
• Developing and creating patterns for a variety of clothing apparels.
• Ability to use CAD (Computer Aided Designs) to create pattern models.

1.3 PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (2 POST)
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
• Applicants must be mature and have a Certificate in Textiles related courses.
• A Diploma and or Degree in the relevant area of specialisation is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in Textile or Clothing industry is necessary.

DUTIES
• Interpret technical drawings and instructions.
• Organise workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules.
• Check production output according to specifications.
• Submit reports on performance and progress.
• Identify issues of efficiency and suggest improvements.
• Conduct inline quality audits.

1.4 PREPRODUCTION AND FINISHING SUPERVISOR (2 POST)
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

• Applicants must be mature and have a Certificate in Textiles related courses.
• A Diploma and or Degree in the relevant area of specialisation is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in Textile or Clothing industry is necessary.

DUTIES
• Monitor quality in the designs and pattern making, cutting, sample making and finishing
sections.
• Accounts for garments received from the sewing department.
• Visual inspection and measurements checking.
• Maintaining inventory for consumables in this finishing section.
• Preparing daily pre-production and finishing section production report.
• Chase production department for garments on schedule.
