Midlands State University is seeking qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following positions:
Position A: Buyer (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management/Retail Management
- At least 2 years of experience in the retail supermarket FMCG industry
- 5 “O” levels, including Mathematics and English
Skills and Competences:
- Proficiency in working with executives, offering professional and strategic advice
- Understanding of human resource management concepts
- Knowledge of statutes governing the operations of a retail supermarket
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze customer buying patterns and predict future trends to prevent stockouts.
- Source materials, analyze quotations, and place orders with suppliers.
- Comply with Category Management Schedule for procurements.
- Ensure quality and performance of purchased goods.
- Manage stock and prevent overstocking.
- Handle product merchandising and customer engagement.
- Conduct market intelligence and reporting.
Position B: Receiving and Dispatch Supervisor (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Purchasing & Supply Chain Management/Retail Management
- 5 “O” levels, including Mathematics and English
- At least 2 years of experience in the retail supermarket FMCG industry
Skills and Competences:
- Understanding of Human Resource Management concepts
- Knowledge of statutes governing the operations of a retail supermarket
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor the stock-receiving process.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry.
- Maintain cold chain principles for perishable stock.
- Oversee paperwork flow from receiving to inventory control.
- Maintain supplier relationships.
- Ensure adherence to stock rotation policy and timely handling of expiring stock.
- Manage warehouse operations and safety standards.
Position C: Butchery/Fruit & Vegetables Supervisor (1 Post)
Qualifications and Experience:
- ‘O’ Level Certificate
- Certificate/Diploma in Retail Management or Supervisory Management (an added advantage)
- At least 3 years of retail experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve revenue and gross profit targets for the department.
- Implement strategies to maximize sales and product offerings.
- Gather customer feedback and market intelligence.
- Collaborate with the Buyer to prevent stockouts.
- Maintain product quality and hygiene standards.
- Ensure stock management and minimize losses.
- Oversee departmental safety standards.
