Role and Objectives
As a Mechanical Technician, you will operate at the forefront of our operations, proficiently handling specific technologies in SMD. This includes Protos Cigarette Makers, GD Cigarette Packers, or KDF Filter Makers. You should also be capable of serving as a reliever for one of these technologies when required. Your role will encompass major preventive maintenance, overhauls, installations, and commissioning of these technologies.
Key Accountabilities
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Breakdown Response: Lead, support, and execute technical operators in responding promptly to machine breakdowns.
- Maintenance: Conduct planned maintenance inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
- Machine Operation: Proficiently operate one of the designated technologies, ensuring production targets are met and reporting on machine performance and tasks.
- Machine Settings: Lead and support operators in ensuring the proper machine settings across the factory to maintain high-quality production.
- Modifications: Make necessary modifications to enhance performance based on management decisions.
- Spare Parts: Ensure key sub-assembly spares are readily available and in good condition.
- Conversions: Lead technical operators in performing machine conversions as required.
- Project Support: Oversee projects, including installations and commissioning, in collaboration with the technical operator team.
Essential Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, working in a similar role.
- Technical Competency: Proven technical skills, particularly in preventive maintenance, machine overhauls, and service and utility equipment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated positive leadership attributes, leading by example, and serving as a role model.
- Management Systems: Experience owning at least one Daily Management System.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to provide guidance to task teams and engage in Pillar activities.
- Coaching: Actively create opportunities for development and growth for trainees and technical operators through coaching and constructive feedback.
- Discipline: Maintain high standards and demand discipline, both for yourself and your team, to achieve outstanding results.
- Problem-Solving: Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, utilizing improvement tools.
- Qualifications: Hold a National Diploma in Engineering or a related field.
