A local hotel is seeking the services of a Hotel Manager to play a pivotal role in the operations of their newly renovated establishment.
Position Overview
The Hotel Manager will take on the crucial responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel. This role involves providing strategic direction, meticulously planning, and effectively supervising the activities of a diverse and extensive workforce. The primary objective is to ensure the smooth and profitable functioning of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the hotel’s operational functions, as outlined in the organizational structure.
- Ensure strict adherence to hotel operating controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Take the lead on critical property matters, including capital projects, customer service, and refurbishment.
- Handle guest complaints and oversee service recovery procedures.
- Prepare, present, and achieve the hotel’s annual Operating Budget, Marketing and Sales Plan, and Capital Budget.
- Manage ongoing profitability, surpassing revenue and guest satisfaction targets.
- Make decisions that are in the best interest of the hotel and its management.
- Achieve hotel budget goals and set both short and long-term strategic objectives.
- Develop improvement strategies and execute cost-saving measures.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of profit and loss (P&L) statements and respond with impactful strategies.
- Continuously monitor the hotel’s business reports and make decisions based on real-time data.
- Ensure monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General are accurate and on target.
- Maximize room yield and revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the management and board.
- Formulate plans and budgets for the management and board, covering revenues, costs, and more.
- Assist in procuring operating supplies and equipment and contract with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services.
- Oversee and manage all hotel departments, maintaining close daily collaboration with department heads.
- Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.
- Lead in all aspects of business planning.
- Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
- Handle corporate client relationships and participate in new client acquisition alongside the sales team when necessary.
- Ensure the quality of both internal and external hotel operations.
- Manage compliance with legalization, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations, and other legal requirements.
- Develop and implement a proactive marketing strategy to promote the hotel’s services.
- Interact with customers when appropriate, addressing their needs, resolving issues, and providing information.
- Manage maintenance issues, staff shortages, equipment concerns, renovations, and other matters.
- Collaborate with external parties such as suppliers, travel agencies, event/conference planners, etc.
- Conduct regular facility inspections and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards.
- Monitor staff performance to ensure the hotel runs smoothly and guests are satisfied.
- Set budgets and room rates, allocate funds, and approve expenditures for various departments.
Requirements and Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong customer service skills and a business-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated abilities in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Reliability and the capability to multitask effectively, even under pressure.
- Exceptional leadership skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role.
- A degree in Hospitality and Tourism/Marketing/Business Administration or a related field.
