Lectureship Positions Available At The National University of Science and Technology
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the
following posts in the Faculty of The Built Environment: –
1. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (2 POSTS)
Department of Architecture
Applicants must have at least a post-graduate Bachelor of Architecture Degree or a Master’s Degree
in Architecture or an equivalent qualification. Registration with Architectural Professional Bodies will
be an added advantage. They should be competent to teach a wide range of modules covering the
basic elements of Architecture such as Design Studio, Construction Technology, History and Theory
of Architecture, Structural Design, Environmental Services, Sustainable Design, Computer Aided
Architectural Design and Building Information Modelling (BIM); and Practice and Management.
Evidence of scholarly and professional contribution which includes a portfolio of major design works
may be required.
2. STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOW (2 POSTS)
Department of Architecture
Applicants must have at least a Bachelor of Architectural Studies (Honours) Degree or an equivalent
qualification. Industrial experience will be an added advantage.
Candidates should be prepared to specialize into any of the following subject areas covering the basic
elements of Architecture such as Design Studio, Construction Technology, History and Theory of
Architecture, Structural Design, Environmental Services, Sustainable Design, Computer Aided
Architectural Design and Building Information Modelling (BIM); and Practice and Management.
Successful candidates will be expected to register or be already registered for a relevant Masters
Degree in the Built Environment. Further, they must be self-motivated and willing to work in a
dynamic environment.
3. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)
Department of Construction Economics and Management
Applicants must have a degree in Civil and Water Engineering or related qualification. In addition,
the candidate should possess at least a Masters Degree or Mphil in Construction Project Management
or Construction Management with postgraduate experience in Practice, research or higher education.
A PhD in Construction Management, Civil Engineering and/ or registration with a professional body
will be an added advantage. Candidates should be capable of teaching across a range of traditional
and contemporary subjects; Research Methods, Site Surveying I and II, Engineering Surveying,
Structural Design and Design Management.
4. STAFF DEVELOPMENT FELLOW (3 POSTS)
Department of Construction Economics and Management
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
Candidates already studying for a Masters degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics
have an added advantage. The incumbent should be willing to enrol for Masters studies and be
engaged as a Lecturer upon the completion of studies.

Department of Electronic Engineering
Applicants must be holders of reputable Electrical/Electronic Engineering programme in a recognised
university. A Doctoral degree from a recognised university would be an added advantage. The focus
areas are on advanced research in the area of Telecommunications, Electronic Systems, Software
Engineering and Control Systems. The duties of the incumbent will include lecturing, research and
student supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Community Engagement,
Innovation and Publishing of research findings in refereed journals; and active engagement in
promoting the growth of the University will be expected.

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (5 POSTS)
Department of Computer Science
POST A: PROGRAMMING AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT (2 POSTS)
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Computer Science or
Software Engineering or Computer Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in at least one of the
following: Computer Science, Big Data Science, Data Analytics, Software Engineering and/or
Computer Engineering. Holders of a PhD Degree in any of the above disciplines will be given first
preference. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the following: Programming,
Advanced Database and Data Mining, Software Methodology, Research Methods at postgraduate
level as well as teach similar courses at undergraduate level.
POST B: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (2 POSTS)
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Computer Science or
Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering and hold a Master of Science Degree in at least one
of the following: Computer Science or Big Data Science or Data Analytics or Computer Engineering
or Applied Mathematical Modelling or Operations Research and Statistics or MSc in Artificial
Intelligence and machine learning. Holders of a PhD Degree in any of the above disciplines will be
given first preference. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the following modules:
Computational Discrete Mathematics; Evolutionary Computing & Parallel Distributed
Processing; and Simulation & Modelling at postgraduate level as well as teach other courses at
undergraduate level such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
POST C: COMPUTER NETWORKS AND SECURITY (1 POST)
Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Computer Science or
Networking Engineering and be hold a Master of Science Degree in at least one of the following:
Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Cyber Security. Holders of a PhD Degree in any of
the above disciplines will be given first preference. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
the following modules: Artificial Intelligence, Computer Security and Auditing, Digital forensics,
Network programming, Data Communication and networks, Computer ethics and Cyber Security.
2. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (4 POSTS)
Department of Applied Physics
Post A: Earth Sciences (2 Posts)
The applicant must hold a PhD qualification in any one of Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Geology and
Hydrogeology. An applicant who holds a Master of Science Degree in Earth Sciences, Geophysics,
Geology and Hydrogeology may be considered for the post. A Master of Science Degree holder will
be expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification. Proof of active research in the form
of published papers and at least two years teaching experience will be a definite advantage.
The successful applicant is expected to be conversant with the basic Physics/Earth Sciences taught at
undergraduate level. He/she shall be expected to teach the undergraduate modules in addition to the
courses in MSc Geophysics programme. He/she shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that
require him/her to actively be engaged in meaningful research that leads to
development and economic sustainability. In doing so, he/she shall be expected to attract funding for
research and foster
collaborative research within the Department, Faculty and with other Institutions.
Post B: Applied Physics (2 Posts)
The applicant must hold a PhD qualification in any one of Physics, Solid State Physics, Applied
Physics and Lasers and Applied Optics. An applicant who holds a Master of Science Degree in any
one of the discipline above may be considered for the post. A Master of Science Degree holder will be
expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification in any one of the fields above. Proof of
active research in the form of published papers and at least two years teaching experience will be a
definite advantage.
The successful applicant is expected to be conversant with the basic Physics taught at undergraduate
level. He/she shall be expected to teach the undergraduate modules in addition to the courses in MSc
Lasers and Applied Optics programme. He/she shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that
require him/her to actively be engaged in meaningful research that leads to development and
economic sustainability. In doing so, he/she shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster
collaborative research within the Department, Faculty and with other Institutions.
3. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (3 POSTS)
Department of Radiography

Applicants must hold a minimum qualification of a Master’s Degree in any of the specialities in
Radiography (Medical Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging,
Radionuclide Imaging or Radiotherapy). A higher qualification in any of the above disciplines and or
proof of active research in the form of published papers shall be a definite advantage. The successful
applicants are expected to be able to teach basic Radiography taught to undergraduates at First and
Second year levels at the University. They will be expected to teach the basic undergraduate courses,
as well as elective courses taught at Fourth year level in their areas of specialisation. In addition, they
will be expected to assist on the MSc Programmes in the Department. The successful applicant shall
participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require her/him to be actively engaged in meaningful
research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, s/he shall be expected to
attract funding for research and foster collaborative research within the Department, Faculty and with

Department of Journalism and Media Studies

POST A: News Writing (1 Post)
Applicants should be holders of a Masters Degree in Journalism and/or Media Studies,
Communication or related field. Applicants must have a minimum of 2.2 or better at undergraduate
level in the above fields. In addition, applicants must have a minimum of 7 years’ practical
journalism and managerial experience in the newsroom. Teaching experience at a university
will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach news writing courses at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected
to assist students in innovation and entrepreneurial journalism start up projects.
POST B: Strategic Communication (1 Post)
Applicants must possess a minimum of an earned Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Strategic
Communication, Public Relations, Journalism and/or Media Studies, Communication Studies
or related area from a recognised university. Applicants who have submitted/defended their
PhD thesis will also be considered. In addition, applicants must also have a Masters’ degree in
the above fields and must have attained a minimum of 2.2 or better at undergraduate level in the
above fields. Professional experience in strategic communication is an added advantage.
Evidence of at least one publication in a peer reviewed journal or book chapter will be an
added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach postgraduate students in
strategic communication. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to
supervise postgraduate students.

LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Business Management
Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in Strategic Management/Business Management /
Business Administration/Human Resource Management from a recognized university. The first
degree should be in Business Management/Human Resource Management or related area. Candidate
with a 2.1-degree class (upper second) or better will have an added advantage. Candidates with PhD
qualifications will also have an added advantage.
The department is seeking an individual with a demonstrable commitment to collaborative teaching
research, and innovative curriculum design and development. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach at least three modules on the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree in Business
Management programme. Candidates with tertiary or university teaching experience will have an
added advantage. The ideal candidates should be able to teach across different specialist areas of
Management. However, the preferred areas of expertise include Entrepreneurship, Project
Management and Labour Law. Candidates applying for associate professorship should have a good
track record of research publications in the field of Management. The ideal candidate should be an
effective communicator across contexts and audiences, with the ability to work well with diverse
groups of people, and possess excellent listening and teamwork skills.
2. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (1 POST)
Department of Finance
POST A (2 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a minimum of a PhD Degree in Finance or a related field and must demonstrate
the ability to teach, provide university service, supervise and undertake research at the University
level, in addition, to promoting entrepreneurship and business development. The successful applicant
should be able to research and teach a wide variety of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels. A strong orientation toward Financial Econometrics/Quantitative Finance/Financial
Engineering/Computational Finance will be an added advantage. In addition, the successful candidate
will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and theses.
POST B (2 POSTS)
Applicants should be holders of a minimum of a PhD Degree in Financial Computing, Financial
Engineering and related fields and must demonstrate the ability to teach, provide university service,
supervise and undertake research at the University level, in addition to promoting entrepreneurship
and business development.
Successful candidates should be able to research and teach at least two courses in: Financial
Computing, Financial Modelling, Mathematical Tools in Data Science, Applied Data Science for
Finance, and Machine Learning in Finance at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, the
successful candidates will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and
theses.
POST C (2 POSTS)
Applicants should be holders of a minimum of a PhD Degree in Fiscal Studies, Economics,
International Trade, Customs and Taxes or a related field and must demonstrate the ability to teach,
provide university service, supervise and undertake research at the University level, in addition to
promoting entrepreneurship and business development.
The successful applicants should be able to research and teach at least two courses in: International
Tax Planning, Tax Law and Practice, Taxation Accounting, Value Added Tax, Customs Law,
Customs Management and Reforms, International Economic Integration, Economic and Fiscal Policy,
Public Finance/Economics, Policy and Development and Implementation, Multilateral System of
Trade and Relations or related courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In addition, the
successful candidates will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and
theses.
