Kader Asmal Fellowship Program IRELAND-2023/24
The Embassy of Ireland in South Africa is offering a fully-funded scholarship opportunity to South African students to study at the Master’s level in Ireland’s world-renowned higher education institutions.
Candidate Requirements
- Be a resident national of South Africa;
- Have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience;
- Hold an Honours degree from a recognized public university, with an average of at least 75%;
- Not in possession of a Master’s degree or higher level qualification;
- Be able to take up a fellowship in the academic year 2023/2024;
- Be able to demonstrate leadership abilities and aspirations, as well as the commitment to the achievement of the SDGs within your own country;
- Have identified and selected two relevant courses from the Ireland-Africa Fellows Programme Directory of Eligible Courses;
- Have a clear understanding of the academic and English language proficiencies required for both courses chosen;
- Should not have applied for Kader Asmal Fellowship Programme on more than one previous occasion;
- Applicants are strongly advised to select three programmes at three different institutions.

Bursary Inclusion
- University application fees;
- Tuition fees;
- Examination and other fees;
- Economy travel to and from your country of residence to Ireland;
- settling in allowance, book allowance, and study allowance;
- Accommodation;
- A monthly stipend to cover other living expenses.
- The cost of an entry clearance (student visitor visa) application.
How to Apply
Applications must be typed and submitted to the Embassy of Ireland in South Africa by email at: SouthAfricaFellowships@dfa.ie.
You need to include the following documents with your application:
- Copy of passport (only the identity page is required), or another official identification document if you do not have a passport;
- Copy of undergraduate degree certificate;
- Copy of undergraduate degree academic transcript;
- English language test (IELTS) certificate, if available. Only IELTS certificates dated September 2019 or later are acceptable
