Mission and Objectives: Making an Impact Through Volunteerism

The UNV program in Uganda aims to contribute to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism, integrating it into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.

UN Volunteers in Uganda play a vital role in areas such as governance, youth development, gender equity, poverty reduction, and more. The mission is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the government’s Vision 2040 to transform the country into a competitive upper-middle-income nation.

Task Description: Enhancing Communication and Advocacy Efforts

As an International UN Communication and Advocacy Assistant, you will support the implementation of the Communications and Advocacy strategy for the United Nations in Uganda.

Your responsibilities will include developing communication materials, participating in the UN Communications Group, maintaining media forums, and organizing advocacy workshops. Your work will contribute to showcasing the value of volunteerism and promoting the UNV’s mandates in Uganda.

Eligibility Criteria: Requirements and Application Process

To be eligible for this assignment, you must be between 18 and 26 years old and a Korean national. You should be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program or have recently graduated. Previous experience in media/communication, advocacy, or volunteering will be advantageous. The application deadline is August 1, 2023, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.

Duration and Benefits:

A 12-Month Assignment with UNV This assignment is onsite in Kampala, Uganda, and has a duration of 12 months. While the position does not require a driving license, fluency in English is required. The assignment falls under the category of International UN University Volunteer, and selected candidates will receive entitlements provided by UNV.
