Key Responsibilities
Monthly and Ad Hoc Stock Taking: The Costing Clerk will be responsible for conducting both monthly and ad hoc stock taking to keep a keen eye on inventory levels and variances. This ensures that our resources are managed efficiently.

Product Costing and Pricing: Compilation of all the relevant information necessary for accurate product costing and pricing is a core duty. This involves analyzing costs and setting competitive prices in the market.
Bill of Materials (BOM) and Job Card Accuracy: The Costing Clerk will check BOMs and job cards for precision to guarantee that materials and labor are correctly allocated.
Work in Progress Tracking: This role involves tracking work in progress and producing precise job costs for both completed and ongoing projects. It’s about understanding the resources utilized.
Factory Reports: Assisting in the preparation of weekly and monthly factory reports is vital for evaluating material and labor usage. This keeps operations aligned with budget expectations.
Costing for Special Orders: Collaborate with designers to calculate the cost of special or custom orders. This requires a keen understanding of materials and labor costs.
Data Capturing: Accurate data capturing of sales invoices in the accounting system is another essential task to maintain financial records.
Supplier and Product Price Lists: The Costing Clerk will be responsible for updating supplier price lists for raw materials and price lists for finished products.
Job Card Creation: Create job cards for every new project, ensuring they contain all the necessary information for accurate costing.
Costing Sheet Comparison: Print costing sheets for completed jobs and compare the actual costs with the initial estimates. Any variances should be reported.
Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliation of work in progress reports to the General Ledger, ensuring the financial records are in harmony.
Cutting List Issuance: Prepare and issue cutting lists upon receiving a job or order, streamlining the production process.
Requirements
- Educational Background: The ideal candidate should possess at least a diploma in Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is required, showcasing competence in cost analysis.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of Pastel Accounting is a must, as it’s a key tool in this role.
