Government of Mexico Excellence Scholarship 2023 With Full Tuition Coverage and Stipend
The Government of Mexico, through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), is inviting international students interested in pursuing studies at the honours, masters, or doctoral levels, as well as participating in research or student mobility programs, to apply for the “Call for Excellence Scholarships of the Government of Mexico for Foreigners 2023.”
This opportunity is open to candidates from over 180 countries, under bilateral agreements, multilateral mechanisms, and special arrangements.
More than 80 Mexican Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are participating, offering academic programs registered with the National Postgraduate System of the National Council of Science and Technology.
These programs showcase Mexico’s advancements in various fields of science and humanities. Through these scholarships, Mexico aims to strengthen its global role and commitment to fostering cooperation in developing highly skilled human capital.
Objective:
Developing High-Level Academic Human Capital The primary objective of the Excellence Scholarship Programme is to contribute to the development of high-level academic human capital by providing full-time, in-person training opportunities in Mexico.
These scholarships cover honours, masters, and doctoral programs, as well as student mobility and postgraduate research stays.
Scholarship Modalities and Benefits The scholarship program offers various modalities with different durations:
- Undergraduate Mobility Program (maximum duration of 24 months)
- Master’s Mobility Program (maximum duration of 12 months)
- Master’s Program (maximum duration of 24 months)
- Doctoral Program (maximum duration of 36 months)
- Postgraduate Research Stays (maximum duration of 12 months for master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels)
Selected applicants will receive the following benefits:
- Monthly stipend: The stipend for master’s scholarships, mobility programs, and master’s level research is four times the monthly value of the Federal Economic Measurement Unit (UMA), currently equivalent to $12,614.80 MXN. For doctoral scholarships and research stays at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels, the stipend is five times the monthly value of the UMA, currently equivalent to $15,768.50 MXN.
- Enrollment and tuition: Covered as per the program’s provisions of the respective Mexican educational institution.
- Medical insurance: Provided through the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) during the scholarship period.
- Visa fees: Payment waiver for issuing the Mexican visa.
- International air flight transportation: Provided upon successful completion of the academic program, with the flight route determined by AMEXCID (refer to Annex 3 for eligible countries).
- National transportation: Covered for travel between Mexico City and the host city of the receiving academic institution.
- Ticket management: AMEXCID will purchase the air flight ticket, and any changes made to the ticket after issuance will be the responsibility of the recipient.
- Selection criteria: The selection process considers the submission of required documents and the applicant’s academic excellence. Preference is given to those who have not previously received an AMEXCID scholarship.
