A challenging and exciting opportunity has arisen within UNICEF Zimbabwe’s Climate Resilient, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Section, for a passionate and committed WASH Officer (NO-2).

The WASH Officer reports to the Chief of WASH (P5) providing technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process. The Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the country programme.

Under the guidance of the Chief, the WASH Officer will be responsible for coordinating all aspects UNICEF’s WASH emergency programming and also supporting the government WASH sector coordination, including for emergencies.

  •  Programme development and planning
  •  Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results
  •  Technical and operational support for programme implementation
  •  Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response
  •  Networking and partnership building
  •  Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  •  An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering or another relevant technical field. *A first university degree in a relevant field combined with 4 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  •  Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.
  •  A minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required.
  •  Knowledge of WASH programme/project management, capacity development, knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation is required.
  •  Knowledge of humanitarian WASH preparedness, response and recovery including coordination of the response is required.
  •  Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
