WIPO Program Overview

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has launched its 2023-2024 Training, Mentoring, and Matchmaking Program on Intellectual Property for Women Entrepreneurs from Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities.

The program focuses on a hands-on approach and is divided into two phases: training and mentoring, and matchmaking. The training phase will be held at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from September 18 to 22, 2023. It will include a mix of short presentations, case studies, and group work. In 2024, the mentorship and matchmaking phase will take place.

WIPO Training Requirements

To ensure a diverse and representative cohort, WIPO will select up to 20 participants from around the world. At least two participants from each of the seven geo-cultural regions recognized by the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will be chosen. The regions include Africa, the Arctic, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, the Russian Federation, Central Asia, and Transcaucasia, North America, and the Pacific.

How to Apply for WIPO Training

WIPO strongly encourages applications from young indigenous and local community women entrepreneurs. Interested candidates should submit a duly filled application form by April 21, 2023.
