Data Scientist Opportunity at EGPAF in Harare, Zimbabwe
The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in developing the Malaria module of the Mpilo electronic health system. This project is part of the DELTA 2 technical assistance provided to the Ministry of Health and Child Care of Zimbabwe.
The Data Scientist will work closely under the guidance of the Data Management Systems Technical Advisor and adhere to strict timelines. This assignment is a six-month commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection and Automation: Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes, streamlining data acquisition.
- Data Preprocessing: Undertake preprocessing of both structured and unstructured data to prepare it for analysis.
- Data Analysis: Analyze extensive datasets to unveil trends and patterns that inform decision-making.
- Model Building: Construct predictive models and machine-learning algorithms to improve data-driven insights.
- Ensemble Modeling: Combine various models using ensemble modeling techniques to enhance accuracy.
- Data Visualization: Create informative dashboards for stakeholders using data visualization techniques.
- Problem-Solving: Propose solutions and strategies to address complex business challenges.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with engineering and product development teams to implement data-driven solutions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field is essential, and a graduate degree in Data Science or a related quantitative field is highly favorable.
- Professional Experience: Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst in the public health sector is crucial.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in data mining, machine-learning, and operations research is expected. Knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, Python, and familiarity with Java is an advantage.
