Factors To Consider Before Sending Your Children To School During This Covid19 Era
All over the world schools has been closed and they had extended layoff due to COVID-19. In some parts of the world such as Africa, the cases of coronavirus infections are still rising. In the developed countries where they say the cases have been reduced there is a second wave of re-infection. France and South Korea once opened schools but they closed them within a week due to re-infection crises.
According to CTV News
Parents are left with a challenging dilemma: Do I send my child to class and risk infection, or do I keep them at home and risk them potentially falling behind?
The Zimbabwean government’s decision to reopen classes in July has been a contentious one, with health experts and teachers’ associations indicating that it’s still too early, given that the cases in Zimbabwe are increasing.
Factors to consider:
- The health system in Zimbabwe in case your child contracts the virus
- The response rate in which the responsible authority do when a case has been reported
- Infrastructure and school resources. Some schools in rural areas due to scarcity of resources they share: desks, books and pens.
- Transport to ferry children to and from school will they practice social distancing?
- Will it not be an opportunity for other people to take advantage of school children due to lake of transport and food. (exposure to all kinds of risks)
- How protected will be your children outside the home.
- Do all schools have sanitizers
- Do all schools have first aid in case of emergence
- Just a reminder children will use the same toilets, tape, furniture in their large numbers
- Will teachers be able to control and pay attention to all the children to avoid physical contact
- Is a classroom setting going to improve your child’s learning or kill your child with coronavirus
- Will my children fall behind if I choose to keep them at home
- Will sending children to school in this era not affect them mentally?
