Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

1.0 PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT UNIT

PROCUREMENT OFFICER (x3)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the public procurement sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Procurement Manager.
  • Receiving internal purchase requisitions from user departments.
  • Advising user departments on appropriate procurement methods.
  • Designing specifications and evaluation criteria in collaboration with user departments.
  • Conducting market analysis to determine the value of items.
  • Sourcing quotations and recommending the best suppliers for goods, services, and works.
  • Managing frequent/stock-line procurements under framework agreements.
  • Preparing procurement returns for submission to PRAZ and other internal reports.
  • Facilitating and managing the bidding process in compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (PPDPA), Chapter 22:23.
  • Administering supplier contracts.
  • Monitoring compliance and contract management for all awarded contracts.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (Cap. 22:23) is a distinct advantage.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Knowledge of Pastel/SAP is an added advantage.
  • Clean employment record.

GRADUATE TRAINEES (x4)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management from a reputable institution.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, a quick learner, and a passion for procurement and supply chain management.
  • Candidates must be under 25 years of age with a good disciplinary record.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Procurement Officer.
  • Sourcing quotations from prospective bidders.
  • Assisting in market trend analysis and pricing, and identifying prospective suppliers.
  • Receiving and processing internal requests following the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act (Chapter 22:23).
  • Preparing and issuing purchase orders to suppliers.
  • Addressing queries and facilitating communication between the Unit and stakeholders.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager.

2.0 LIBRARY

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT / PUBLISHING LIAISON ASSISTANT

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Editing, Publishing, or Languages.
  • A relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and manuscript management systems.
  • Familiarity with academic publishing standards is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing incoming manuscripts for university journals.
  • Acquiring and soliciting manuscripts.
  • Conducting initial checks on manuscripts for completeness and adherence to submission guidelines.
  • Coordinating the peer review process and maintaining communication with authors and reviewers.
  • Ensuring adherence to international publishing standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Assisting with plagiarism checks and copyright compliance.
  • Collaborating with authors, editors, and publishers to ensure timely publication.
  • Formatting, editing, and proofreading manuscripts for consistency and accuracy.
  • Managing editorial correspondence and keeping records of manuscripts at various stages.
  • Maintaining the journal database, sending out calls for manuscripts, and updating journal websites and social media platforms.
  • Handling inquiries from authors, reviewers, editors, and readers.

3.0 STUDENT AFFAIRS DIVISION

SPORTS, HEALTH, AND WELLNESS OFFICER

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating meetings of the University Sports Council.
  • Developing and ensuring the implementation of the section’s calendar.
  • Sourcing sponsorship in cash or kind from various stakeholders.
  • Leading and accompanying teams on trips and excursions.
  • Attending Student Council meetings.
  • Promoting the University’s sporting and recreational vision, mission, and objectives in line with the University’s Strategic Plan (2019-2025).
  • Developing and administering an inclusive wellness program, including leagues, tournaments, and special events.
  • Establishing and managing the University Sports Academy, offering a wide range of organized activities.
  • Hiring, training, mentoring, and overseeing coaches, officials, scorekeepers, and other student workers.
  • Developing and implementing assessment and evaluation mechanisms, providing data and reports to the Dean of Students.
  • Managing the Sports and Recreation budget.
  • Collaborating with other departments to promote fitness and wellness.
  • Building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the sports industry.
  • Supporting holistic student development and life skills enhancement.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A first degree in Physical Education, Sport Management, or an equivalent field.
  • A Master’s degree in a related area is an added advantage.
  • A Diploma in Education.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing and administering sports in tertiary institutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge and experience in Health and Wellness Programs.
  • Membership in national, regional, or international sports bodies is preferred.
