CARE USA oversees and supports five country offices in the Southern Africa region through its regional management unit (RMU). We are currently seeking a Regional Risk and Compliance Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Regional Business Services Manager within the RMU, the primary responsibility of the RRCC is to ensure effective risk management processes, internal procedures, and policies are understood, maintained, and adhered to.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide independent assurance and consulting services to improve operations in the country offices.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance.
  3. Ensure compliance with selected policies, procedures, donor requirements, as well as local laws and regulations.
  4. Conduct special investigations as requested.
  5. Make recommendations to the country offices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of control systems.
  6. Oversee compliance functions, risk management, and fraud management.
  7. Support financial planning and performance in the country offices.
  8. Collaborate with the wider organization.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management, and CPA/ACCA or equivalent certification.
  2. Minimum of 5-10 years of work experience in an INGO, preferably at the country office or regional level.
  3. Minimum 5 years of experience in auditing and compliance, with a working knowledge of classical compliance techniques and tools, including problem-solving, corrective action, and auditing.
  4. Proficiency in facilitating training sessions for small, medium, and large-sized groups.
  5. Experience with major donor audits (e.g., USAID, EU, ECHO, etc.).
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach to handling multiple priorities.
  7. Ability to quickly adapt to new systems, processes, and procedures while aligning local practices with global standards.
  8. Good leadership, coaching, and negotiation skills.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, and familiarity with online accounting packages like PeopleSoft.
