AKA Forced To Cancel His First Performance After Nellie’s Death
AKA has been forced by the public to pull out of the Joburg Day entertainers list scheduled for the 28th of May this year.
Headlining the Huawei-Joburg Day was expected to be AKA’s official comeback after taking a break following the tragic loss of his wife, Anele Tembe last month.
And according to his manager, he had to take a break from social media and the public to mourn his wife’s death.
He was scheduled to headline the virtual concert on the day.
But, according to T Effect, an artist management company, AKA has decided to pull out of the event and will not be headlining the show this year.
This, after growing concerns on social media over his alleged involvement in Anele’s death.
Pictures and videos leaked online last week, showing fights between the couple before Anele’s death.
Now, activists and civil rights movements are calling him out as an abuser.
Some have echoed calls for his music to stop being played on TV and radio stations.
It is on this regard that AKA is pulling out of the concert.
In his statement, AKA thanked the show organisers and the 947 radio station for giving him the opportunity he is now cancelling.
“I would like to thank 947 and the entire Joburg Day team for understanding and giving me this continuous opportunity to do what I love. I look forward to working with them again in the future,” he said.
