Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) has announced multiple Permanent vacancies. Applications are invited from eligible candidates to fill the positions below.
1.Maintenance Manager
This is a senior position reporting to the General Manager Hwange Power Station. The key challenge in this position is the ability to achieve maximum sustainable generation and plant availability through effective plant maintenance programs, plant upgrading and plant rehabilitation projects.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Comes up with strategies to ensure high availability of the generation plant.
- Ensures implementation of Maintenance routines.
- Liaises with Factories Inspectors and Equipment Manufactures for safety of plant and personnel.
- Prepares specifications for maintenance service and spare contracts and carries out adjudication of tenders.
- Monitors forced outage factor in order to ensure that it is contained within the planned maintenance program.
- Institutes condition monitoring and condition-based maintenance on key plant equipment.
- Ensures ownership by reviewing and implementing quality assurance programs for high impact plant and maintenance.
- Ensures audit compliance to maintenance best practise and action.
- Supervises and monitors performance of service contractors.
- Prepares departmental budget that ensures effective cost control.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 O’levels including Mathematics and English.
- A degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or any relevant Degree
- A Post Graduate qualification such as an MBL/MBA or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Full membership of a recognized professional institution.
- 8 years relevant experience in a similar environment of which 6 years should be at senior level.
2.Finance Manager
This is a senior position reporting to the General Manager at Hwange Power Station. The position is strategic to the Station as it manages financial activities of the company in a manner that assures profitability, solvency and growth.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares weekly, monthly and annual cash flow forecasts order to cater for funding gaps.
- Develops appropriate capital structure for the Station and recommends to the Finance Director.
- Prepares the Annual Capital, Revenue and Expenditure budget guidelines in accordance with the corporate plan.
- Evaluates Generation Assets Privatization proposals.
- Manages the station’s procurement processes to allow the company achieve cost savings.
- Reports on compliance with relevant statutes, legislation and standards.
- Prepares project guidelines to ensure that projects invested on enhance shareholder value.
- Reviews monthly conciliations of bank accounts, payroll accounts and petty cash.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 O’level is including Mathematics and English.
- A degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or equivalent
- A Post Graduate qualification such as an MBL/MBA or equivalent
- Full membership of a recognized professional institution
- 8 years post graduate experience of which 6 should be at a senior level
3.Accountant
Reports to the Project Manager at Deka. The position is responsible for ensuring that no disputes or potential losses for accounted expenses are incurred using recommended accounting standards for such transactions.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Checks for consistency and completeness in the application of accounting systems and procedures at the Project.
- Coordinates the preparation of budgets in compliance with the budget guidelines.
- Coordinates the preparation of audit schedules for both internal and external audits.
- Prepares project accounting review reports.
- Makes timely payments to suppliers and lenders.
- Manages project associated risks.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 O’levels including Mathematics and English.
- A degree in Accountancy or equivalent
- Membership of a recognized professional Institution
- 4 years relevant experience of which 2 years should be at Officer level.
- A diploma in Project Management is an added advantage
4.Principal Human Resources Officer
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in formulating long term Human Resources Policies and procedures to govern Human. Resources practices throughout the company.
- Designs and assists in implementing short-, medium- and long-term manpower planning processes.
- Initiates and implements programs to identify talented staff at entry level that will be developed into future professionals and management talent.
- Assists the Senior Human Resources Manager in the formulation and implementation of personal development plans on the basis of Performance Appraisals.
- Ensures harmonious employee relations through implementation of best labour policies and practises and adherence to labour laws for the mutual benefit of the organisation and its staff. Liaises with Power Stations in the implementation of Health and Safety welfare policies and best practises.
- Facilitates the setting of Key Result Areas and performance indicators for junior staff.
- Implements career pathing and succession planning for all the managerial and professional staff in the business.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 “O”levels including Mathematics and English.
- Degree in Social Sciences or any relevant discipline.
- Corporate membership of a recognised Professional Institution.
- Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage
5.Legal Officer
This is a critical position reporting to the Company Secretary and Legal Advisor at Head Office. The position is strategic in assisting the Company Secretary and Legal Advisor in providing legal and quasi-legal services to the Authority more particularly litigation in lower courts, debt collection and drafting of minor contracts and other legal documents
Duties And Responsibilities
- Negotiates, prepares/reviews contracts on behalf of the Company
- Ensures the Company’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Attends to litigation, conciliation, arbitration proceedings on behalf of the Company
- Provides assistance in and ensures the Company upholds and practices corporate governance principles and ethics
- Provides assistance in preparing Board meetings and other Board Secretarial services as directed by the Company Secretary/legal Advisor
- Ensures adherence to departmental budgets
- Provides administration support to the Legal Department.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 O’levels including Mathematics and English.
- Bachelor of Low (LLBs) Honours Degree.
- Registration to practice as a legal Practitioner in Zimbabwe
- Membership of the Law Saciety of Zimbabwe
- At least 2 years post graduate practicing
Buyer
The Buyer will be based at Head Office and will be will be responsible for procurement administration for ZPC’s small Thermals, Hydro project and Hwange. The major challenge of this position is to perfom comprehensive professional and procurement administrative support function and low value purchases for the company.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains an appropriate filling system and keep track of documents generated
- Ensure that requirements for Head Office including consumables are ordered
- Checks the correctness for purchase requests, specifications, analyse descriptions and obtain additional information where necessary
- Researches for and selects potential and suitable sources of supply in line with existing laws and procedures
- Attends tender opening and performs tender secretariat duties in meetings
- Evaluates received bids, quotations, and other terms against tender and prepare comparative schedules
- Issues purchase orders to suppliers after approvals
- Complies purchase requisitions order status reports and other reports as and when required. Maintains an appropriate filling system and keep track of documents generated

Accounts Clerk
The incumbent reports to the Accountant at HESCO Head Office. The position is essential in the posting of Accounts documentation and preparing documents for payments.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists in Payroll costing
- Conducts invoice matching and initiates payments runs
- Prepares creditors ageing analysis
- Files paid and unpaid invoices and ensures that all invoices processed for payment are clearly marked (Stamped paid) and filed appropriately
- Requests and files invoices for payments made to HESCO Head Office
- Prepares funding requests and usage returns
- Prepares monthly cash flow statements (cash paid/ cash received report)
Qualifications and Experience
- 5 ‘0 Levels including English Language and Mathematics
- NC or Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
- 3 years relevant experience.
- A Degree is an added advantage
- Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage
