Mo Ibrahim Foundation Leadership Fellowship Program
Established in 2006, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation is on a mission to support good governance and exceptional leadership across Africa. It aims to:
- Stimulate Good Governance Discussions: By fostering conversations around good governance, the Foundation seeks to initiate positive change on the continent.
- Provide Measurable Criteria: The Foundation offers criteria that both citizens and governments can use to measure progress in governance.

Contract Terms and Duration:
- The fellow will receive a monthly stipend paid by the Bank. Travel expenses for official missions will be covered, but the fellow is responsible for insurance and other travel-related costs.
- During the fellowship, the Fellow must comply with the Bank’s Staff Regulations and Rules, and their performance and conduct will be directed and instructed by the Bank.
- The Fellowship does not guarantee employment with the Bank after its completion. The Fellow will not be eligible for Bank employment for a year following the fellowship.
- The Fellow is responsible for their own medical insurance, child education, and retirement plan.
- The Foundation will cover the costs of the fellow’s assumption of duty and repatriation at the end of the appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Ibrahim Leadership Fellow will receive guidance from senior officials, including the President and Chief of Staff. They will contribute to strategic assignments and responsibilities, including:
- Developing innovative approaches to strategic issues that align with the Bank’s mission.
- Researching and analyzing relevant areas of strategy, programs, and policies.
- Assisting in monitoring and analyzing the Bank’s initiatives.
- Preparing briefs, memos, and documentation in simple language for a broader audience.
- Engaging in high-level discussions and supporting the President’s activities.

Selection Criteria:
The priority for selecting the 2024 Mo Ibrahim Fellow is based on the Bank’s High 5 areas, such as powering Africa and improving quality of life. Competencies sought include private sector experience, strong policy analysis, and the ability to run models. This Fellowship caters to young professionals, mid-career individuals, and new executives.

This one-year fellowship is not a regular Bank position and is funded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
