2022 NSFAS Applications To Close In 1 Week

The closing date for the NSFAS applications is fast approaching, if you are part of the people who have not yet submitted their applications then get your hands on the deck before the 7th of January 2022.

Here are some of the eligibility requirements you will need to meet and the documents you will have to provide to submit your application.

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Can be a SASSA grant recipient.
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum.
  • Persons with a disability whose combined household income is not more than R600 000 per annum.
  • Applicants who first registered at university before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Required Documents:

  • Applicants must provide a copy of ID or a temporary ID issued by the Department of Home Affairs
  • Non-SASSA applicants must provide ID copies of parent/s, legal guardian/guardian or spouse
  • Smart ID cards: a copy with both sides of the smart ID must be provided
  • Proof of income: applicant and/or parents/legal guardian/spouse (where applicable (non-SASSA) should
  • provide the latest payslip not older than 3 months, UIF letter, appointment letter, retrenchment letter (applicant and/or parent(s), legal guardian/spouse)
  • Persons with disabilities: to complete Disability Annexure A form.

If you meet these requirements, this is how can submit your online application:

  • Go to https://my.nsfas.org.za/Application/selfservice.jsp 
  • Create a myNSFAS account
  • Click on ‘Apply’ and update your information and upload your application supporting documents
  • Click ‘Submit’
  • Alternatively, you can also apply for your NSFAS funding at one of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) centres across the country.

The NYDA assists students who have not yet applied, especially those who are located in remote areas without internet access.
