The Zimbabwe Centre for High-Performance Computing (ZCHPC) was created through Statutory Instrument 168 of 2019, the Manpower Planning and Development (Zimbabwe Centre for High-Performance Computing), Regulations, 2019.
DEPUTY DIRECTOR- SYSTEMS SUPPORT
Duties
- Directing and overseeing the ZCHPC functions including security, design, development, installation and maintenance of hardware and software according to stakeholder needs and the strategic vision.
- Leading, managing, mentoring, and building an engineering team to deliver innovative advances in High-Performance Computing in Zimbabwe.
- Identifying and incorporating new technologies to High-Performance Computing as the new technology becomes available.
- Carrying out strategic planning of technical functions specifically developing future plans for Centre systems, facilities and personnel.
- Responsible for acquisition of infrastructure equipment and software.

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in High Performance Computing, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering or a closely related field.
- A PhD in a relevant field or proof of an advanced stage towards completion of a PhD study.
- Minimumof 2 years’ experience of managing technical teams.
- At least 1 publication or patent that clearly demonstrates your own systems design
- A managerial certification will be an added advantage.
- Expert knowledge in parallel and distributed systems, and computer networks.
- Understanding of data centre systems and security.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Goal oriented, and an organised team player.
DEPUTY DIRECTOR- APPLICATIONS
Duties;
- Facilitating specialised research and development projects and activities on ZCHPC application areas including geospatial, space and earth sciences, engineering, life sciences, artificial intelligence and big data analytics.
- Carrying out strategic planning, implementing monitoring and evaluation of operational functions, specifically developing future plans for Centre systems, facilities and personnel.
- Ensuring effective communication between ZCHPC, and HPC users and stakeholders.
2 Open Vacancies At ZCHPC
- Coordinating quality management systems.
- Collaborating with HPC users to determine their needs, and translate them into business requirements to drive sales and improvements.
- Directing the development of project strategy and budget in line with the ZCHPC constitution.
- Facilitating HPC user training, workshops and conferences.
- Generating revenue.
- Negotiating all agreements.
- Identifying future business needs and making recommendations.
- Developing and promoting human and institutional capacity strengthening in the field of High Performance Computing in Zimbabwe
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in High Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Geospatial Space and Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Information and Communication Technologyor a related Engineering field.
- APhD in a relevant field or proof of an advanced stage towards completion of a PhD study.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing research teams.
- At least 1 publication or patent that clearly demonstrates your own ICT-related research and development
- A certification in project management, or monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.
- High-level understanding of the application of artificial intelligence and data analysis in various fields of research.
- Strong understanding of higher education curriculum development.
- Business negotiation skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently.
- Meticulousattention to detail.
- Goal-oriented and organised team player.
