Company Description SNV Zimbabwe is implementing Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) project funded by SIDA and SDC. The project seeks to improve the livelihoods and prospects for 10,000 youth (among whom at least 50% are young women by creating “green” employment and enterprise opportunities in agriculture, energy and other emerging sectors. The project aims to sustainably increase youth employment and income by skills and capacity development of youth (push factor), linking these youth to market opportunities for employment and enterprise development (match factor), in growth sectors that have concrete potential for employment creation (pull factor). Under the OYE project, SNV was set to organise and host youth entrepreneurial fairs where youth aged between 18 and 35 years registered with the OYE project would participate in the exhibition. Target youth comprise of those with existing businesses but seek to grow their market share and youth who are new in business or those with new products that they would like to introduce into the market; youth who are already in business or new entrepreneurs who are into business and have innovations that require support of partners and/or investors. Such entrepreneurship fairs were intended to create a platform for youth to exhibit their products and services to customers; enable youth entrepreneurs to gather competitive intelligence; introduce a new product; recruit dealers or distributors; improve company image or improve its visibility whilst at the same time motivate more youth to start up enterprises and create awareness about the project. However, this plan was superseded by the Covid-19 Pandemic which has made open public gatherings difficult to conduct and has forced organisations and businesses alike to consider other options of conducting business fairs. Job Description Purpose of the assignment It is against the above background that SNV seeks to engage an innovative and experienced media/marketing enterprise to design and produce a Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair whilst fully complying with the national COVID-19 regulations. The various products/outputs of this assignment will later be cascaded widely by SNV using various virtual platforms. Role of the Consultant The consultant is required to come up with an innovative concept on how to conduct a Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair (preferably with limited physical contact) in light of Covid-19 whilst at the same time catering for the interest of the young entrepreneurs from Murewa, Harare, Goromonzi, Umzingwane, Mangwe and Bulawayo. The consultants must furthermore consider the target audience of this proposed Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fairs that would include amongst other actors business people, potential youth entrepreneurs, investors, development partners, financiers, knowledge institutions and strategic government departments. Below are the indicative roles of the consultant: -
  • Development the Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair Concept
  • Orientation of Local Service Providers (LSP's) on the Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair and how they can support the production and cascading processes
  • Support Youth to prepare for the Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair production
  • Production of the Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair covering the proposed/agreed districts
  • Develop Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair products for communication on various platforms
  • Role of SNV SNV Will Be Responsible For The Following
    • Orient the Consulting firm on the OYE programme including the objectives of the Virtual Youth Entrepreneurship Fair
    • Connect the Consulting firm with the OYE Local Service Providers and potential youths in the target districts
    • Review the material developed by the consultant and provide feedback during the editing stages.
    • To sign off on the produced material after completion of works.
    Qualifications Individual or organisations with the following qualifications and experience are required:
    • Ability to produce high-quality multimedia (videos, audios, photos etc.).
    • Ability to edit multimedia including insertion of subtitles,
    • Experience in producing and/or working with a wide range of multimedia including producing audio from video recordings
    • Demonstrated understanding of cross cutting issues such as gender and disability and how they affect productions such as these.
    • Demonstrated understanding of community development and operational culture of non-governmental organisations in Zimbabwe.
    • Demonstrate experience working with youth.
