Are you a talented and highly qualified mid-level professional with aspirations to join UNESCO as an International Civil Servant?
If so, the UNESCO Mid-Level Professionals Programme (MLPP) 2023 presents an incredible opportunity for you to kickstart or advance your career in this esteemed organization.
Open to All, Priority to Under-Represented Member States
The MLPP is open to applicants from all UNESCO Member States. However, if candidates possess equal qualifications, preference will be accorded to those hailing from under-represented Member States or those already working within UNESCO.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MLPP, applicants must be nationals of a UNESCO Member State.
UNESCO strongly encourages candidates from under-represented Member States to apply.
The selection process adheres to UNESCO’s standard recruitment procedure, including educational and professional experience requirements typically associated with P-3 and P-4 level positions.

Language Proficiency Matters
Language skills are paramount for International Civil Servants. Candidates must demonstrate excellent proficiency in at least one of UNESCO’s working languages, which include English and French.
Knowledge of the other working language is advantageous and, in certain cases, mandatory.
Proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish can be an additional asset, depending on the role.
Core Competencies and Values
UNESCO values qualities like commitment to the organization, integrity, respect for diversity, and professionalism in its professionals.
These core values form an integral part of the MLPP selection criteria.
Application Process
Positions within the MLPP are advertised for a two-month period. Applicants must meticulously review the requirements to confirm their eligibility.
It’s essential to complete the online application accurately, as no alterations can be made post-submission.
Pre-screening and Assessments
Applications undergo a pre-screening process to verify candidates’ compliance with basic eligibility criteria, including experience, education, and language proficiency.
Further assessments may include pre-recorded video interviews, written tests, and competency-based interviews conducted by expert panels.
